Fortunately, that isn’t quite a handicap when it comes to the films. In fact, I like that I don’t need to know the comics to fully appreciate the Hellboy films. The mythology of the films is sufficiently explained; not too much that you get sick of it, and not too little that half the time you’re asking, “Huh? What?” I tend to do that a lot with X-Men films, and it gets a little annoying. With the comic book conundrum out of the way, I can focus on the film, and boy what fun it was! With Guillermo del Toro’s (<i>Pan’s Labyrinth</i>) takeover of the director’s seat, everything was simply more beautiful.
